Meritxell Barberá and Inma García, with degrees in Classical and Contemporary dance from the city of Valencia, founded their own company Taiat Dansa in the year 2003. Since then they have presented their creations in different theatres and festivals both nationalyl and internationally. Parallel to this work, after Meritxell completed a Degree in Journalism and Inma a Degree in Art History, they both attained a Masters in Management of Cultural Services in 2003 and later a Diploma in Management of Performing Arts at the Valencia University. Upon completing these studies, the two choreographers decided to initiate a new artistic project as Cultural Managers. GmExpresa, in 2004.
Together they created the contemporary art fair Valencia.Art which was celebrated annually at the Museo del Carmen in Valencia between 2004 and 2009 and brought together more than 30 galleries and more than 200 plastic artists from both the national and international art scene. Currently, they are directing the festival Festival 10 Sentidos as an annual event and have been doing so since 2011 in different theatres, museums, cultural spaces, and public spaces in Valencia. The Festival 10 Sentidos, takes hold edition after edition, with the satisfaction of having turned this experience with the arts (performing arts, visual arts, film, audiovisual, literature, education…) into a reference and a must-see event every May in Valencia. The living arts festival of the city. Contemporary creation, research, interdisciplinarity and transversality are the mainm features of this event. The Festival is entirely open to the search for new artistic languages, to both emerging and consolidated artists, and to local, national and international proposals. As a showcase for the living arts in Valencia, the aim is to create a dialogue between artists, audience, associations, society and communities, schools, students and education centres.
In addition, with GmExpresa, they carry out exhibition and educational projects and produce cultural and educational activities in museums such as MuVIM, IVAM, Centre del Carme Cultura Contemporània, Fundación Bancaja or La Nau.
At the same time, they study Marketing, Communication and Event Production. In 2002, with GmPublicidad, they begin to create campaigns, creative experiences, event design and strategy for clients. GmExpresa is created within GmPublicidad, offering a cultural, creative and design laboratory and a creative consultancy to their clients, and generating a new network of brands and companies to design creative experiences.
Meritxell Barberá and Inma García also teach at the Master on Cultural Management at the Universitat de Valencia since 2014, and give workshops, talks and conferences in national and international cultural centres and festivals.
